Our story

Born of a very simple frustration.

In 2026, looking for reliable information about sports betting in France usually meant landing on interchangeable rankings, copied over from one year to the next, where the order of the brands seemed dictated by something other than the quality of the offer. We built SportsBetGuide FR to do the opposite: deliberately narrow coverage, two licensed brands followed properly, and a method published in black and white.

The newsroom is based in Paris. It is made up of writers who specialise in sport and in French gambling regulation, and it works without advertiser input on the editorial line.

Our method, in three stages

1. Compliance first

No brand is published without a licence verified against the official register of the Autorité Nationale des Jeux. We check the holder’s registered company name, the authorised domain and the exact scope of the licence, then re-check every quarter.

2. Measured sampling

Each week the newsroom records the odds offered on a fixed basket of fixtures — Ligue 1, the Champions League, ATP, EuroLeague — in order to estimate the margin applied. This sampling feeds the “odds value” score.

3. Real user journey

Sign-up, identity verification, deposit, withdrawal, contacting support: the journey is carried out on a real account, with our own money, and timed. These measurements feed the service and withdrawal scores.

Our independence

SportsBetGuide FR is funded by commercial links to the operators we cover. This model is commonplace; it becomes a problem when it is not declared. So we declare it everywhere: every commercial link is flagged on the page where it appears, and the full detail is on our Disclosure page.

No advertiser has any right of review, veto or influence over the scores. A brand that lost its licence would be removed from the comparison within 48 hours, regardless of commercial considerations.

Correcting an error

We publish figures, so we sometimes get them wrong. If something looks inaccurate or out of date, write to us at redaction@sportsbetguidefr.com: we correct it and date the correction at the foot of the review concerned.
